(Hoffman Estates, IL, April 24, 2026) - S. Himmelstein and Company, a leader in torque measurement technology since 1960, announces the release of its MCRT® 84800V and MCRT® 85800V Ultra-Precise Bearingless Digital Torque Sensors, engineered to deliver exceptional real-world accuracy, speed, and reliability in demanding industrial applications.
The key new feature for these models is the simultaneous output of torque, speed, and power in both analog and digital form. Designed to outperform conventional torque sensors outside the calibration lab, this series leverages high torsional stiffness to achieve wider installed bandwidth and faster response times.
The torque sensors specifications include 1 kHz measurement bandwidth and high overload and overrange capability (up to 400% overload and 300% overrange). Additional features include advanced temperature compensation (0.0003%/oF) and high-speed data processing with 7,800 calculations per second.
A carrier amplifier immune to DC drift and low-frequency noise, combined with enhanced resistance to electromagnetic interference (EMI), ensures stable performance in electrically noisy industrial environments.
The torquemeters are available in multiple performance grades of +/-0.04, +/-0.02, or +/-0.01 percent of full scale. The system's bi-directional rotor shunt calibration system verifies the entire measurement chain in both clockwise and counterclockwise operation.
The bearingless design simplifies installation by tolerating wide rotor-to-stator misalignment, eliminating the need for complex alignment tools and accommodating thermal expansion and mechanical variation.
The MCRT® 84800V and MCRT® 85800V series provides advanced data acquisition and connectivity including:
- RS422/485 or operational USB communication
- Built-in software for data visualization, limit checking, and test storage
- Selection of 25 engineering units without recalibration
With torque ranges from 250 to 100,000 lbf-in (28.2 to 11,300 Nm), these torque transducers are ideal for automotive and aerospace testing, industrial machinery development, pump systems, powertrain and drivetrain analysis, and research and validation environments.
Additional features include:
- +/-5.000 / +/-10.000 V analog outputs
- Max/Min values updated every 128 microseconds
- Speed ranges up to +/-15,000 rpm
All bearingless torque sensors are designed for ease of installation and operating efficiency and are shipped with NIST-traceable calibration performed in Himmelstein's ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited metrology laboratory (NVLAP Lab Code 200487).
S. Himmelstein and Company has been delivering innovative torque measurement solutions for over six decades, manufacturing a full line of shaft, spline, flange, pulley, wheel, and reaction torquemeters.
