Bearingless Torquemeters are used to determine rotating device torque, speed, power, and efficiency. Their high accuracy and repeatability make them the preferred sensor for power and efficiency testing. They have no bearing losses, are short, stiff, have exceptional performance, have high immunity to extraneous loads and, safely operate with a single flexible coupling. The result is a short driveline with high measurement precision and enhanced dynamic performance - achieved under real world conditions, not just in a laboratory. Moreover, these sensors boast industries highest Overload and Overrange which avoids fatigue and load failures and errors from clipped torque peaks.

About Bearingless Digital Torquemeters

Bearingless Torquemeters are often more economical than lower performance, lower cost sensors. That’s because their use can produce a less costly and more efficient test installation which is made possible by their great accuracy over wide torque ranges. For example, a single 0.01% Code J Bearingless Torquemeter, used over ten times the useful range of a 0.1% sensor will provide more accurate results than multiple 0.1% sensors handling the same torque range. The upshot is more accurate data, lower sensor capital cost, lower test bench cost and continuing operational savings by eliminating sensor changeovers.

Himmelstein Bearingless torque transducers use multiple strain gage bridges that cancel extraneous loads and reduce adverse temperature gradient effects. Data is digitized on the rotor and is immune to noise and signal coupling variations. It is sent to the stator without physical contact where it is manipulated by multiple microprocessors. The sensors output torque, in engineering units, as well as its analog and frequency equivalents. Speed output is an option. Additionally, valuable signal processing capabilities are provided in a single, compact package.  No need to add hardware or write software, these sensors are ready to operate straight from the box.

An accredited, bi-directional ISO/IEC 17025/2017 calibration and a true, bi-directional rotor shunt calibration check are standard. Other premium features include large, non-critical rotor-to-stator gaps, dc to 3 kHz bandwidth, 13 selectable signal filters, 10 selectable Units of Measure, fast Max/Min capture, 0.0003% temperature compensation, remote zero, cal, tare and more. Standard models have ranges from 250 lbf-in (28.2 Nm) to 22,120,000 lbf-in (2,500 kNm). 200%, 400% and 1,000% Overload and dual range models are offered.
