FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ........ January 11, 2002

S. Himmelstein and Company announced the addition of State Machine Capability to its Series 700 Signal Conditioning/ Processing Instruments. In their State Machine Mode, the powerful Series 700 data processing and Logic I/O functions are extended to event driven applications. That is, when the Instrument recognizes the occurrence of pre-defined events, it transitions from state-to-state. As it enters each new state, the Model 700 automatically reconfigures itself.
This new capability greatly expands the use of the 700 Series Instruments. With it, the Instrument alone can perform and classify complex tests based on multiple measured parameters and their signature, timing of events, etc. For more details and applications, click on the link to AN7000A, below.
Event comparisons are made 1000 times per second. As many as eight (8) States, may be defined. The Instrument remains in the highest defined state until it is reset. Reset can be done from the keypad, via Input Logic, via serial communications or, it can be triggered automatically.
The State Machine is setup from the Instruments keypad or with mouse clicks using the included PC Interface software. That software displays, plots, prints and saves real-time data. It also will save and download the Instruments' setup parameters.
